Hi everone!

Just a brief message to all about your clubs forthcoming birthday. We are having another open day at the field, on the 14th July. Anyone who attended last year will know what a success that was, & were hoping to improve on that this year! We have some proper marquees in case of poor weather, BBQ facilities, (manned, I believe, so you don’t even have to cook your own!, plus hot drinks etc. there will also be a covered area for display models, so if anyone has any projects or models they want to show off, now is the time. Toilet facilities will be provided, and hopefully plenty of flying! Please give your club the support it deserves, & by all means invite your families to come along. Last year was a fantastic day (there are a few pics on the club website) & it is so nice to get everyone together for these things!. I will send more details as we progress nearer the date, but in the meantime, any questions or offers of help in any way can be directed to myself, Stuart, & Paul.

Best Regards

Corby & District Model Flying Club two day event.

Our Xmas Party will again be held in the Club House on Tuesday 18th Dec, starting at 8.00 pm. All members are welcome to attend but it would be appreciated if they made a food contribution for all to share. Please note that there will only be tea or coffee available however members are welcome to bring any other beverage that they wish and any item for the raffle. Tickets will be on sale at the Club House on Tuesday evenings and on the night.Once again the evening has been arranged by your Committee and Paul Edwards and all are encouraged to support the Club.

Wow! What can I say? what a fantastic day. Huge thank you to everyone involved. Special mention must go to that lovely old fella Stuart, and his partner Marie, without you today would not have happened. Also big thanks to Bob & Matt, Laurie, & Andy, all of whom were at the field at an ungodly hour this morning to help set everything up. I’m completely knackered now, but very, very happy, the whole day was a success, even the weather gods smiled on, by mid afternoon we had zero wind and sunshine! Will put as many pics and video’s as I can on here in due course, but now, I need a big mug of tea!

Just to let everyone know, despite today’s weather, the forecast for Monday is ok, so we are still going ahead as planned with the event. Big thanks to everyone who has helped with contributions of Gazebo’s, BBQ’s, and everything else, it’s going to be a great day! We’ve got tea/coffee facilities, everything for the BBQ’s, just bring some grub if you like. (There will be some spare I’m sure, as Paul is on holiday!) If anyone needs directions on the day, feel free to contact us, if you need a mobile number for someone on site, use the contacts section on this website, and we’ll get one email straight back tonight.. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

A reminder that our Anniversary Celebrations are now only a week away! The event will be at the flying field, on Bank holiday Monday,4th June. Stuart has managed to get the loan of a decent sized (9m x 3m) marquee, courtesy of Castle Bromwich scouts, and we also have several gazebos, so is all looking good. The plan is to have a display area with some of these, for models to be shown but not necisarily flown. The perfect opportunity to show us your projects and builds! We will have toilet facilities on site, & several BBQ’s on the go, just bring your grub! We will provide everything else you need.

Also, dont forget the raffle for the Arising Star, complete and ready to fly with J’EN 47 engine, just add your RX/TX. Tickets are just £1, available from Stuart in advance or on the day.

No pre-booking required for displaying or flying models, but if you’re displaying a large model, as I know several of you will be, might be an idea to let us know in advance so we can make sure there is sufficient space under cover.

This is a big step for the club, and hopefully the first of many where we can all get together, celebrate and FLY!

Bring your families & friends and lets make this a day to remember.

    Hello all.

A message regarding our club’s anniversary celebration. We’ve decided to have a ‘celebration day’ for the club. This will be at the flying field, on Monday, 4th June (Bank holiday Monday)

There will be BBQ’s, gazebo’s/marquee on site, as well as toilet facilities. Also we’re having a raffle for a complete new Arising Star plane, with all servo’s & a JEN47 engine, just add your receiver & fly! Tickets are just £1, available from Stuart in advance or on the day.

As the club was first formed in 1945, maybe it would be nice to see some aircraft from that era. I’m sure lots if not all of you have a warbird somewhere! Even if you don’t want to fly, you’re welcome to bring your models, whether complete or not, for display to everyone. This is going to be a fantastic day for all members, families and friends, so please spread the word, and invite as many people as you like!

Having checked the all important weather, MET office say that the beginning of the month may see the hottest temperatures of the year so far, and whilst it’s not a given, it certainly looks promising.

Bear in mind anyone flying on the day must hold valid BMFA insurance and the models must be noise tested by MGMEC to 80db or below. Site will be open at 9am, Flying will commence from 10am till 6pm for i.c models, 10am till dusk for electric models. Obviously, there will be no admission charges, & any dogs must be kept on a lead at all times within the boundaries of the field. Bring your own BBQ food, we’ll supply the rest. Come on down, let’s make this a Diamond Jubilee to remember!

 Happy Landings

Congratulations to Bob Cotsford for getting not only a picture of himself but two of his models in the June issue of RCM&E magazine! Bobs models are featured in an article about the recent Sleap retro fly in. The models mentioned are a ‘King Altair’ & a Maribu. The ‘King Altair’, is described by Alex Whittaker as ‘One of the most elegant retro aerobatic models I’ve ever seen’. There is a picture of this model on the members model page of the site. well done Bob, your models are a credit to you!
